Why could NK possibly have come under the headline Fresh Arrival? Well – anyone who steps into NK as off today will know that for sure. Two of the floors have gone through some major changes and offers several new (fresh…) shops, labels and other surprises.
NK continues to work to become one of the leading shopping experiences in Stockholm. When founding NK in 1902 it was Josef Sachs´s vision was to make the department store into a “commercial and cultural theatre” and this is the vision the present management has had in mind when developing the store.
The largest news is NK Nordic Designers (NK Nordiska Designers). It used to be a rather small section of women´s wear but has now been moved and the space is three times as big (it feels even bigger). The display of the designers is much clearer and the department is quite amazing, not the least with the inspiration you get when entering the department. “It has been an enormous pressure on us from our customers to develop this part of the department store. There is such a huge force in especially Swedish fashion at the moment”, says Camilla Wallander, Marketing Director for NK. “The mixture between fashion from Sweden and the other Nordic Countries (Denmark, Norway, Finland and Iceland) makes it really interesting”, she continues. Other news in the women´s department is that Danish label Bruuns Bazaar has their own department. There is also a new department called NK International Designers (NK Internationella Designers) with exclusive labels like Helmut Lang, K Karl Lagerfeld, Preen and Dsquared2.
The men´s department has their share but there the focus is entirely on the Swedish fashion and the completely new department is simply called NK Swedish Designers (NK Svenska Designers). Paul & Friends with their cozy feeling has for long been a favorite for customers at NK and their space have increased and got a refurbishment as well. With this comes that they are able to offer more brands, i.e. Givenchy´s full collection, John Galliano´s ready to wear and Rick Owens. Paul & Friends have exclusivity in Sweden for all these three labels. “It is especially interesting to see the change in demand from International customers. We see a clear and increased demand for Swedish and Nordic fashion when they come to us”, says Camilla. “With the refurbishment we are also able to offer more than just shopping, it´s and experience”, she continues.
With this refurbishment of NK and the one going on at PUB, Stockholm is definitely climbing in the league of cities to visit for any fastidious shopper!
