Stockholm shopping – Götgatsbacken PDF E-post

Götgatsbacken is one of those areas that seem to be able to revitalise all the time. You will always find a number of good shops here and with quite a mix as well – from cheap and cheerful at H&M to chic and expensive at c/o
Stockholm. With this vast number of good shops mixed with a number of trendy coffee shops you can most definitely spend a good part of the day on this one street.

Part of GötgatsbackenIn the beginning of the street is one of Twist & Tangos five concept stores. Twist & Tango is a Swedish brand founded in Gothenburg and has a philosophy of trying to combine everyday luxury with timeless simplicity. This is something that you will most definitely find in the shop and though quite a lot of this springs grey and black there is also quite a lot of colourful garments.

Keep walking Götgatsbacken up on the left side and you will come to Weekday (or actually MTWTFSS WEEKDAY). This is, not the least for all denim lovers, a superb shop. Large, light and with an excellent selection of different jeans labels, Swedish as well as others. The rising star on the denim sky, Cheap Monday, is the in-house brand so you will obviously be able to find a large selection of these jeans in all shapes and forms and several different inspiring patterns.

On the lower ground floor is a large vintage department and if you lack colours this season, this is the place to go! A small, though ever so cute, baby department is located in the stairs to the lower ground floor. One of the really great things about this shop is the incredibly helpful staff – a big plus for that.

Weekday/The Shirt Factory Design Linnea BrownOn the opposite side of the street from Weekday you find one of the cities oases – c/o Stockholm. One of their philosophies is to offer goods you will not find anywhere else and they have most definitely succeeded in this. On the first floor there is a good mix of Swedish and international clothes and shoe labels, most of them in the more expensive part of the price range.

The Ground floor is for accessories, cosmetics and underwear and on the lower ground floor you can get all sorts of treatments, as manicure, hair cuts or massage. It is also possible to sign up for a make-up workshop. Finish off with a coffee in the espresso bar and you realise that it is time to go home and prepare for dinner. Expensive swimwearThe only thing about c/o Stockholm is the staff. Though friendly when you manage to get their attention, you would think that they would be slightly more alert in a place where you can pay SEK 1650 for a pair of swim wear.

As the street starts going downhill again towards Medborgarplatsen you find Bruno Galleria. Though a grand entrance it is easy to miss since there are only tiny signs on each side of the magnificent old fashion entrance. In the middle of the galleria there is an atrium with a coffee shop and the shops are located around this central area. There is a good selection of shops here with a good mix of labels and types of clothes. Here you will find another great shop for shopping denim, Stuk. The rest of the shops have a good variation in style as well as selection of clothes.

Entrance Bruno GalleriaWhen walking on this street you really find a vast range of different shops. Other shops to be found on the street are Filippa K, The Shirt Factory Design Linnea Brown, By Marja, Designtorget and Gudrun Sjödén. No matter what style you are looking for you will most probably find it here, but do take the opportunity and have a look in the other shops as well – you might be in a for a surprise.
