Toners complement cleansers and clean the final traces of dirt. It also helps reduce the pores and mops up excess grease. Open pores are quite common and this is one way of making them less visible (some other tricks will follow in the last lesson). Another great thing with toner is they prevent black heads and acne. As if this was not enough, it also restores the pH value. All this prepares the skin to absorb the moisturiser more easily.
There are different face washes for different types of skin. If you have oily or dirty skin you should use a toner that is disinfecting and anti-inflammatory to help prevent problems with acne. Toners can normally contains flower or herb extracts, water and perfume.
How to apply…
Toner is to be used after cleansing and drying your face (no rubbing… remember??). Use a round cotton pad that you wet with toner and apply it to all of your face by stroking it with the pad. Be extra careful with the T zone (forehead, nose and chin) and this area can be prone to oiliness. Do not forget the neck! Let the skin absorb the toner before you moisturise. A trick is to use a pump instead of the cotton pads. Then you just spray it on to your face and then wait for it to be absorbed – nice and easy – just the way guys want it! This is great if you have stubble as cotton wool can break up in the stubble and you have the devils job of getting it out. Well - that was a short one, but the next one is a bit longer.
