Last night I was invited to a “Frocktail” night in a wonderful place they call The City of London in a very fabulous bar called The Royal Exchange (if you’re ever in town, you must nip in here for a quick drink).
It turns out that a Frocktail night is a night filled with champagne and designer clothes for you to wander through, try on and of course, purchase. Can being a woman get any more wonderful? Yes, it can. After being there for about five minutes, I was asked if I would mind modelling. Hmm, let me think – YESOFCOURSEIWOULDLOVETOMODEL! I was taken to a makeshift changing room and handed a dress which was okay but fell short of the magical “wow” factor so I was handed another dress.
This most definitely had the “wow” in buckets and turned up to 1,000 mega watts. A beautiful halterneck wrap-around dress in fabulous midnight blue and silver/gold by a British designer (sorry Stockholm) called Sara Berman who apparently is very up and coming and one to keep an eye on. And I wandered out to the private party of ladies (shuffling in shoes far, far too big for me) to lots of “ooooh’s” and “aaaaah’s”. It was a moment I will die with. And luckily, I have a film premiere tonight so no prizes for guessing what I’ll be wearing. Just a quick mention about the team who sold the clothes last night. They are a fabulous duo called Rous Iland Members Boutique. These two (extremely glamorous) ladies were both lawyers but decided to change career and provide a fashionable clothing service to women who don’t have the time (or maybe the inclination) to trawl around the shops looking for that illusive dress/suit/etc. They will also send a box full of goodies to you every so often for you to try on at home. Now, that is what I call shopping!
