Editor´s column.

It pretty much felt like being hit by a bus, but what else can you expect now when Stockholm Fashion Week has left the playground and grown up to become one of the best fashion weeks outside of the big five?

Looking at what we are supposed to wear during the next autumn and winter season might be a bizarre way of building up energy for the coming spring/summer season but it does work. Especially this year, with so many designers making such amazing progress with their collection, fashion week really works as an energy booster.

An old favorite. You always know that some of the shows will be fantastic. Two of my favorites are Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair and Lars Wallin. You know that the show, as well as the collection will be fantastic and that is always great. The greatest joy is always to get a surprise though. To go to a show with a designer where you don’t really expect more the good and you go out and are amazed. This happened to me on so many occasions this time so I almost lost track.

With this I am not saying that a lot of designers have been bad. It is just that a whole bunch made collections that were absolutely amazing compared to previous ones. They were mature, grown up, stylish in a way that I haven´t seen earlier and – not the least important – will work amazingly well on the international market.

This is really important, not the least because the Swedish fashion wonder so far mostly has been a matter more for Sweden than the rest of the world. In comparison with the international giants even a cNew found respect.ompany like Filippa K is quite petit. With collections like this, that surprises and intrigues the international press Swedish fashion in total is making a statement – on a global level.

That Stockholm Fashion Week with Berns, +46 and Rookies & Players now is so extremely well organized will help as well. It must be a joy for most international journalist to come here and enjoy good fashion as well as smooth working conditions. A big thank you to everybody involved!

As for the fashion itself… well – I suggest you have a look at all the pictures we have published from over 25 shows and judge yourself. After the week it has become time for us to focus on spring/summer again and we will mix pictures from those shows with recommendations on the nicest garments and coolest accessories throughout spring and summer. Right up until it is time to do the same with all the amazing collections that were just presented to us.
