What the designer says: The collection is influenced by late 80s and early 90s jeans fashion, with unrefined jeans washes, such as the original stone or bleach wash. The look is enhanced by details such as shoulderpads and slogan prints. It also includes sophisticated pieces such as loose fitted woollen coats and tailored jackets, and pieces that have been de- and reconstructed or combined with other garments. The materials are used for contrasts, such as rough denim with cashmere and polyester with fine high count cotton shirts.
What we say: Before this show there was a big buzz that it would be something really extraordinary. I am not really sure that it was that big a deal but I sure liked the playfulness that the designers had. It felt a bit like early Whyred but with the playfulness and humor still there. I hope that The Local Firm will be able to stick to this and not go in the same directory as others in this category has.
