The Ed in LondonIt is time for the Ed to go ”home” to London; the city that I lived in for several years. London is not only my second home but also one of the worlds fashion capitals where a number of Swedes within the industry are well established.

Time really flies when you have fun and I haven’t been able to write anything or obviously publish anything since Tuesday. Full on day today instead but… let me tell you about my great trip to Paris.

Last time I was in Paris was about six years ago and then I was stuck in a trade show at Port de Versailles most of the time. I did get a quick glimpse of the city but with Paris only slightly more than two hours away from London it would be ridiculous not to go when you have the chance.

Galleries LafayetteMy friend Paul knows Paris like his own backyard and was off the whole week so we booked tickets and found a hotel close to the Opera and off we went. With Paul being a sucker for champagne you are bound to have a fabulous and slightly drunk time…

We arrived late in the evening to really get two full days of walking around and gosh have we done that. Arriving in Paris late at night is fantastic. All the beautiful and amazing buildings and boulevards lit up like a Christmas tree – it is fantastic!

Over the two days we have spent an incredible amount of time walking around. We have seen pretty much every palace and place that you should see and we also managed to drop into about 90% of all shops and department stores in Paris. Seeing all the great shops and department stores and what they have to offer it is no wonder that Parisians are the most well dressed people on the planet.

Two make it a real fashion trip we obviously had to follow in the footsteps of two of our heroes, Carrie from Sex and the City and Andy Sachs from Devil Wears Prada. Best ways to do this? Well – you obviously need to have lunch at Kong to see their “hideous” chairs and drink a glass of wine and… you need to stop by the fountains at Place de la Concorde where Andy finally dropped her ever ringing phone. All this was obviously sorted out!

With fashion week going on there is another place where you have to have lunch and that is the Café Marly at the Louvre, where you are surrounded by an armada of fashionistas every day at lunch time. Seldom have I seen such a beautiful and well dressed crowd at one and the same place.

One of the things I really love about Parisian style is that age definitely does not matter. No matter if people are 20 or 70 they still manage to look fantastic – it is a joy to the eye.

Two long but great days of walking, people spotting and shopping we get back on the train to London. Within seconds we are both asleep and wake up mere moments before arriving at St Pancras in central London. A good summary of the trip? Vive la France!
